Die Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Durchführung eines Eindruckversuchs an einer einzelnen Schicht oder einem Mehrschichtsystem aus Lacken, Anstrichstoffen oder ähnlichen Beschichtungsstoffen mit einem bestimmten Gerät (nach Buchholz) fest. Die Eindrucklänge, die ein Eindruckkörper von bestimmter Größe und Form unter bestimmten Prüfbedingungen in der Beschichtung hinterläßt, ist Bestimmungsgröße für die bleibende Verformung der Beschichtung. Das Prüfergebnis wird als Funktion des Kehrwerts der Eindrucklänge angegeben. Es steigt mit dem Anwachsen des Eindruckwiderstandes an.
