Dieser Teil von ISO 2871 legt ein Verfahren fest zur Bestimmung niedrigmolekularer kationaktiver Substanz, wie z. B. Monoaminen, Aminoxiden, ternären Ammoniumverbindungen und Alkylpyridiniumsalzen, die eine Hauptkette mit 10 bis 22 Kohlenstoffatomen und nicht mehr als 6 weitere Kohlenstoffatome im Kation enthalten. Das Verfahren ist auch für andere kationaktive Substanzen geeignet. Das Verfahren gilt für Feststoffe oder wässrige Lösungen der Aktivsubstanz, wenn die relative Molmasse der kationaktiven Substanz bekannt ist oder vorher bestimmt wurde, falls ihr Gehalt als Massenanteil in Prozent angegeben wird. Wenn mehr als eine Art kationaktiver Substanz vorliegt, kann ein Schätzwert der mittleren relativen Molmasse verwendet werden.
