Diese Norm beschreibt ein gravimetrisches Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Anteils von Bestandteilen, die sich aus feinteiligen Phenolharz-Formmassen-Proben durch Aceton mit einer Temperatur nahe dem Siedepunkt extrahieren lassen. Das Verfahren kann nur auf Formmassen auf Novolakbasis angewandt werden, nicht jedoch auf Resolharz-Formmassen, da dieser Harztyp möglicherweise nicht vollständig acetonlöslich ist. In dieser Norm wird die Menge an acetonlöslichen Bestandteilen als scheinbarer Harzanteil beschrieben, obwohl in dem Extrakt, das zwar hauptsächlich aus Phenolharz und Hexamin besteht, normalerweise auch andere acetonlösliche Komponenten wie Schmiermittel und Farbstoffe oder Naturharze aus den Füllstoffen enthalten sind und somit im Harzanteil mit erfaßt werden.
