Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Dickenverlusts und des Härteverlustes bei weich-elastischen Schaumstoffen fest, die für lasttragende Anwendungen, z. B. Polsterwerkstoffe vorgesehen sind. Dieses Prüfverfahren bietet eine Möglichkeit zur Einschätzung des Gebrauchsverhaltens von weich-elastischen Schaumstoffen aus Latex oder Polyurethan, die als lasttragende Polsterwerkstoffe eingesetzt werden. Das Verfahren ist sowohl anwendbar auf Standardprobekörper, die aus Blockschaummaterial heraus-geschnitten sind, als auch auf Formschäume. Der gemessene Dickenverlust und der gemessene Härteverlust stehen zu Verlusten, die während des Gebrauchs entstehen, in einem Verhältnis, sind aber nicht notwendigerweise gleich. Diese Internationale Norm stellt keine detaillierte technische Spezifikation für die Konstruktion des bei der Ermüdungsprüfung verwendeten Geräts dar.
