Dieses Dokument legt allgemeine Regeln fest und enthält technische Angaben zu nichtrostenden Stählen und deren Eigenschaften, die von Relevanz für die Anwendung anderer Teile der Normenreihe ISO 3506 maßgebend sind. Es enthält Festlegungen für korrosionsbeständige nichtrostende Stähle und Nickellegierungen, welche für die Herstellung von Verbindungselementen geeignet sind. Es gilt für austenitische, martensitische, ferritische und austenitisch-ferritische Duplex-Stahlsorten sowie Nickellegierungen für Verbindungselemente und ist für die Anwendung in Zusammenhang mit den maßgebenden Teilen der Normenreihe ISO 3506 vorgesehen. Gebräuchliche Bezeichnungen von nichtrostenden Stählen und Nickellegierungen für Verbindungselemente sind in Anhang A angegeben.
