Das Verfahren ist nicht anwendbar auf Wachse und ergibt außerdem bei bestimmten Fetten mit hohem Gehalt an unverseifbaren Bestandteilen, zum Beispiel bei Fetten von Seetieren, nur näherungsweise Ergebnisse.
