Dieses Dokument legt ein Verfahren zur Berechnung des Cetanindex von Mitteldestillat-Kraftstoffen auf Mineralölbasis fest. Der berechnete Wert wird im Folgenden als "Cetanindex aus der 4-Parameter- Gleichung" bezeichnet. Im weiteren Text dieses Dokuments wird die Benennung "Cetanindex" als Abkürzung für "Cetanindex aus der 4-Parameter-Gleichung" verwendet. Dieses Dokument ist anwendbar auf Kraft- und Brennstoffe, die nicht-erdölstämmige Folgeprodukte der Verarbeitung von Teersanden und Ölschiefer enthalten. Es ist weder anwendbar auf reine Kohlenwasserstoffe noch auf Destillatkraftstoffe auf Kohlebasis. Die Berechnung des Cetanindex berücksichtigt nicht die Wirkung von Additiven, die zur Erhöhung der Cetanzahl verwendet werden.
