Dieser Teil von ISO 4628 legt ein Verfahren, insbesondere zum Bewerten der Kreidung von weißen oder bunten Beschichtungen und Beschichtungssystemen im Außenbereich auf rauen Oberflächen fest (d. h. solchen, die eine Rauheit größer als Segment 4 des Rauheitsvergleichsmusters G nach ISO 8503-1 haben). Das festgelegte Prüfverfahren kann auch zum Bestimmen des Kreidungsgrades von Beschichtungen und Beschichtungssystemen auf glatten Oberflächen angewendet werden, aber hierfür wird das in ISO 4628-6:2011 festgelegte Verfahren bevorzugt. Das Prüfverfahren ist auf Beschichtungen und Beschichtungssysteme auf mineralischen Untergründen, z. B. Faserzement, Ziegelsteinen, Beton und Putzen unabhängig von der Struktur der Oberfläche, anwendbar. Das Prüfverfahren kann von erfahrenen Prüfern eingesetzt werden und wird sowohl für Labor- als auch für Feldprüfungen empfohlen.
