Dieses Dokument gilt für metallische Werkstoffe jeder Herstellungsart, deren Verbindung mit einem beliebigen Schmelzschweißprozess hergestellt wurde, wobei die Maße genügend groß sind, um zylindrische Proben in Übereinstimmung mit ISO 6892-1 herzustellen. Soweit in diesem Dokument nicht abweichend festgelegt, sind die allgemeinen Grundsätze aus ISO 6892-1 anzuwenden.
