Dieses Dokument legt ein Verfahren für die Überprüfung und Kalibrierung von Härteprüfmaschinen und Diagonalmesssystemen zur Bestimmung der Vickers-Härte nach ISO 6507-1 fest. Für die Überprüfung und Kalibrierung der Prüfmaschine, des Eindringkörpers und des Diagonalmesssystems wird ein direktes Verfahren festgelegt. Für die allgemeine Überprüfung der Maschine wird ein indirektes Überprüfungsverfahren unter Verwendung von Härtevergleichsplatten festgelegt. Wird eine Prüfmaschine auch für andere Härteprüfverfahren verwendet, muss sie unabhängig für jedes Verfahren überprüft werden. Dieses Dokument ist auch auf tragbare Härteprüfgeräte anwendbar, jedoch nicht auf Härteprüfmaschinen auf Grundlage von verschiedenen Messgrundsätzen, z. B. Ultraschall-Impedanzverfahren.
