Dieser Teil von ISO 6509 legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Entzinkungstiefe von Kupfer-Zink-Legierungen, die Wasser, salzhaltigen wässrigen Lösungen oder Trinkwasser ausgesetzt werden, fest. Das Verfahren ist für Kupfer-Zink-Legierungen vorgesehen, die einen Massenanteil an Zink von mehr als 15 % aufweisen. Dieser Teil von ISO 6509 beschreibt nur das Prüfverfahren und legt keine Akzeptanzkriterien von Werkstoffen für eine spezifische Anwendung fest. Die Akzeptanzkriterien werden in ISO 6509-2 beschrieben.
