Dieser Teil der ISO 6978 legt ein Verfahren fest zur Bestimmung des Gesamtquecksilbergehalts in Erdgas mit der für die Einspeisung in das Leitungsnetz erforderlichen Qualität unter Verwendung eines Probenahmeverfahrens mittels Amalgamierung an einem Draht aus einer Gold/Platin (Au/Pt)-Legierung. Dieses Verfahren ist auf die Probenahme von Roh-Erdgas anwendbar, solange keine Kondensation vorliegt. Unter Atmosphärendruck ist das Verfahren für die Bestimmung von Quecksilber in Erdgasproben im Bereich von 0,01 ug/mł bis 100 ug/mł geeignet. Bei höheren Drücken (bis 8 MPa) ist dieses Probenahmeverfahren zur Bestimmung von Quecksilberkonzentrationen im Bereich von 0,001 ug/mł bis 1 ug/mł geeignet. Das gesammelte Quecksilber wird mittels Messung der Absorbanz oder Fluoreszenz des Quecksilberdampfes bei 253,7 nm bestimmt. ANMERKUNG Die ISO 6978-1 enthält ein Probenahmeverfahren mittels Chemisorption an mit Iod imprägniertem Silicagel, die zur Bestimmung von Quecksilberkonzentrationen in Erdgas im Arbeitsbereich von 0,1 ug/mł bis 5 000 ug/mł bei Drücken bis zu 40 MPa geeignet ist.
