Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der "leichten" und "vollständigen" biologischen Abbaubarkeit organischer Substanzen durch aerobe Mikroorganismen bei vorgegebenen Konzentration fest. In diesem Zusammenhang definiert diese Internationale Norm auch die Begriffe "leicht" und "vollständig". Das Verfahren ist für organische Verbindungen anwendbar, die folgende Eigenschaften besitzen: a) löslich unter den Testbedingungen (10 mg/l bis 40 mg/l DOC); b) nicht flüchtig oder mit einem vernachlässigbaren Dampfdruck unter den Testbedingungen; c) keine deutliche Adsorption an Glas und Belebtschlamm; d) nicht hemmend gegenüber den Mikroorganismen des Inokulums bei der gewählten Testkonzentration.
