Dieses Dokument spezifiziert Anforderungen an sterile, subkutane Einmalspritzen aus Kunststoff- und Gummimaterialien mit oder ohne Kanüle, die für das Absaugen von Flüssigkeiten oder für das Spritzen von Flüssigkeiten sofort nach dem Befüllen vorgesehen sind und die so ausgelegt sind, dass die Spritze nach dem Gebrauch unbrauchbar gemacht werden kann. Dieses Dokument gilt nicht für Spritzen aus Glas (nach Spezifikation in ISO 595 [zurückgezogen]), selbstblockierende Spritzen mit fixer Impfstoffdosis (ISO 7886-3) und Spritzen, die für vorheriges Befüllen ausgelegt sind. Es behandelt nicht die Kompatibilität mit Injektionsflüssigkeiten. Andere Normen können anwendbar sein, wenn Spritzen für jegliche andere als die in diesem Dokument vorgesehenen Zwecke verwendet werden.
