Dieser Teil von ISO 898 legt mechanische und physikalische Eigenschaften von Schrauben aus Kohlenstoffstahl und legiertem Stahl fest, die in einem Bereich der Umgebungstemperatur von 10 °C bis 35 °C geprüft werden. Schrauben (im Englischen als "fasteners" bezeichnet, wenn gleichzeitig "bolts", "screws" und "studs" angesprochen werden), die den Anforderungen dieses Teils von ISO 898 entsprechen, werden in diesem Bereich der Umgebungstemperatur bewertet. Es kann sein, dass sie die festgelegten mechanischen und physikalischen Eigenschaften bei höheren Temperaturen (siehe Angaben in Anhang B) und/oder niedrigeren Temperaturen nicht beibehalten.
