Der Teil 1 der Europäischen Norm EN ISO 9241 stellt die aus mehreren Teilen bestehende Norm für ergonomische Anforderungen zur Benutzung von Bildschirmgeräten bei Bürotätigkeiten vor und beschreibt die Grundlagen der an der Benutzereffizienz orientierten Vorgehensweise. Er gibt einen Überblick über alle derzeit veröffentlichten Teile und den voraussichtlichen Inhalt der in Vorbereitung befindlichen Teile. Der Teil 1 liefert eine Anleitung zur Anwendung dieser mehrteiligen Norm und beschreibt, wie die Konformität mit Teilen von ISO 9241 anzugeben ist. Anhang A weist auf die IEC-Norm 950:1991 hin, welche Informationen über die elektrische Sicherheit oder Abstrahlung von Bürogeräten liefert.
