Dieser Teil von ISO 9692 legt Arten der Schweißnahtvorbereitung für Lichtbogenhandschweißen, Metall-Schutzgasschweißen, Gasschweißen, WIG-Schweißen und Strahlschweißen fest (siehe Abschnitte 3 und 4). Er gilt für die Schweißnahtvorbereitung für vollangeschlossene Querschnitte an Stumpfnähten und Kehl-nähten. Für nicht vollangeschlossene Querschnitte können die Arten der Schweißnahtvorbereitung und Maße, abweichend von diesem Teil von ISO 9692, festgelegt werden. Die Stegabstände in diesem Teil von ISO 9692 sind als diejenigen nach dem Heftschweißen zu verstehen, falls angewendet. Zu beachten sind Änderungen von Einzelheiten zur Schweißnahtvorbereitung (wo zutreffend), um Schweiß-badsicherungen (Unterlagen), "einseitiges Schweißen" usw. zu ermöglichen.
