Behandelt sind die Fugenformen für das Unterpulverschweißen mit Drahtelektroden (Prozeß 121 nach ISO 4063) von Stahl, in den Schweißpositionen PA und PB nach ISO 6947. Wenn PC angewendet wird, ist eine besondere Nahtvorbereitung notwendig. Die Norm ist für voll durchgeschweißte Nähte anzuwenden. Bei teilweise durchgeschweißten Nähten können Art der Nahtvorbereitung, Form und Maße von den angeführten Vorschlägen abweichen, wenn diese in der entsprechenden Anwendungsnorm oder in einer Vereinbarung zwischen den beteiligten Vertragspartnern festgelegt sind. Wenn die Wurzel durch einen anderen Lichtbogenschweißprozess (siehe ISO 4063) geschweißt wurde, ist die Nahtvorbereitung nach ISO 9692 in Betracht zu ziehen.
