Der vorliegende Teil der ISO 9974 legt Maße, Leistungsanforderungen und Prüfverfahren für Einschraubzapfen, schwere Reihe (S-Reihe) und leichte Reihe (L-Reihe) mit Gewinde nach ISO 261 und die zugehörige Elastomerdichtung (Form E) fest. Dieser Teil legt auch die Bezeichnung dieser Einschraubzapfen und der Elastomerdichtung fest. Einschraubzapfen der schweren Reihe (S-Reihe) mit Dichtung Typ E nach diesem Teil der ISO 9974 dürfen bei Arbeitsdrücken bis 63 MPa (630 bar) verwendet werden. Einschraubzapfen der leichten Reihe (L-Reihe) mit Dichtung Typ E nach diesem Teil der ISO 9974 dürfen bei Arbeitsdrücken bis 25 MPa (250 bar) verwendet werden. Der zulässige Arbeitsdruck ist abhängig von der Größe des Einschraubzapfens, dem Werkstoff, der Konstruktion, den Betriebsbedingungen und dem Anwendungsfall.
