Dieser Teil der ISO 16000 basiert auf Teilen der VDI 4300 Blatt 10 und beschreibt Probenahmeverfahren für luftgetragene Schimmelpilze für die anschließende mikroskopische Analyse. Eine definierte Luftmenge wird durch einen Impaktor angesaugt, der über eine feste Haftfläche verfügt. Die Haftfläche wird schließlich mikroskopiert. Nach der Probenahme werden die Schimmelpilze unter dem Mikroskop ausgezählt. Es erfolgt keine Kultivierung. Auf diese Weise wird die Gesamtsporenzahl, einschließlich kultivierbarer und nicht kultivierbarer Sporen bestimmt.
