Diese Internationale Norm setzt Methoden für die Bewertung von Messgeräten fest, die für Zahnradmessungen von Evol-vente, Schrägung, Teilung und Rundlauf verwendet werden. Sie ist anwendbar sowohl auf Instrumente, die den Rundlauf unmittelbar messen, als auch auf jene, die ihn aus Zeigermessungen berechnen. Sie liefert auch Empfehlungen zur Bewertung von Instrumenten für die Zahndickenmessung und schließt notwendigerweise die Abschätzung der Messunsicherheit beim Gebrauch kalibrierter Zahnrad-Normale ein. Sie widmet sich nicht der Eichung von Normalen durch aner-kannte Laboratorien gemäß ISO/IEC 17025; auch sind ihre Anforderungen nicht als Abnahmevorschrift für gefertigte Zahnräder gedacht (siehe ISO 1328-1, ISO 1328-2, ISO/TR 10064-1 und ISO/TR 10064-2). Die Abschätzung der Unsicherheit bei der Messung gefertigter Zahnräder liegt außerhalb ihres Anwendungsgebietes (Empfehlungen siehe ISO/TR 10064-5).
