Osobitné požiadavky tejto časti IEC 60364 platia na výber a stavbu svietidiel a svetelných inštalácií tvoriacich časť vonkajších pevných inštalácií.Začiatkom vonkajšej svetelnej inštalácie je prípojka elektrickej energie od dodávateľa elektrickej energie alebo začiatok obvodu napájajúceho výlučne vonkajšiu svetelnú inštaláciu.Požiadavky platia napríklad pre svetelné inštalácie ciest, parkov, záhrad, miest prístupných verejnosti, športových plôch, pre osvetlenie monumentov, osvetlenie svetlometmi, osvetlenie telefónnych búdok, zastávok autobusov, reklamných panelov, mestských plánov a dopravných značiek.Požiadavky neplatia pre: -inštalácie verejného osvetlenia, ktoré sú súčasťou verejnej napájacej siete; - dočasné výzdobné osvetlenie; -svietidlá, ktoré sú pripevnené na vonkajšej strane budovy a sú napájané priamo z vnútorného rozvodu tejto budovy.
