Táto európska norma opisuje metódu detekcie tých sérotypov enterovírusu, ktoré sa replikujú a tvoria plaky v bunkách BGM v agare. Sú to hlavne sérotypy poliovírusu a Coxsackievírusu B. Väčšina sérotypov echovírusu, Coxsackievírusu A a živočíšnych enterovírusov nebude pravdepodobne tvoriť plaky v týchto podmienkach. V rámci špecifikovaného inkubačného času sedem dní sa pravdepodobne nebudú dať detegovať reovírusy.
