Táto európska norma sa vzťahuje na filtre a ochranné prostriedky na ochranu očí pri nastavovaní laserov a laserových systémov definovaných v EN 60825-1:2007, pri ktorom vzniká nebezpečné žiarenie vo viditeľnej spektrálnej oblasti s rozsahom vlnovej dĺžky od 400 nm do 700 nm.Filtre špecifikované v tejto európskej norme znižujú toto žiarenie na hodnoty definované pre lasery triedy 2 [-1 mW pre lasery CW (lasery pracujúce v kontinuálnom režime)].
