Táto norma špecifikuje postup určenia rozpustnosti buničiny v roztokoch hydroxidu sodného za studena pri určitej koncentrácii. Najpoužívanejšie koncentrácie hydroxidu sodného sú 18 a 10 |percent| (m/m). Metóda je vhodná najmä pre bielené buničiny, ale môže byť použitá aj pre nebielené buničiny, napr. v rôznych stupňoch výroby bielenej buničiny.
