Tato technická zpráva specifikuje tři metody pro detekci a stanovení počtů Escherichia coli v kalech z čistíren odpadních vod, upravených bioodpadech a půdě: - Metoda A - Metoda membránových filtrů pro kvantifikaci; - Metoda B - Miniaturizovaná metoda (nejpravděpodobnějšího počtu) inokulací do tekutého média; - Metoda C - Makrometoda (nejpravděpodobnějšího počtu) v tekutém médiu. Escherichia coli může být použita jako indikátor fekální kontaminace. Může být také použita k monitorování účinnosti pasterizace nebo dezinfekce, ale je poměrně citlivá (vůči teplotě, vysoké hodnotě pH), a proto nemůže odrážet chování všech patogenních bakterií v materiálu
