Účelem tohoho dokumentu je informovat o možných technických důsledcích na části motoru a palivové systémy v případě, že jsou některé typy chemických sloučenin používány jako směsné složky v bezolovnatém automobilovém benzinu. Tento dokument nemá záměrně omezovat vývoj paliv na trhu.
Chemické sloučeniny, kterými se tento dokument konkrétně zabývá, jsou:
- - sekundární butylacetát (CAS 105-46-4);
- - anilin (CAS 62-53-3);
- - N-methylanilin (CAS 100-61-8);
- - N-ethylanilin (CAS 103-69-5);
- - N,N-dimethylanilin (CAS 121-69-7).
Jinými chemickým sloučeninami se tento dokument nezabývá, nicméně je třeba upozornit na EN 228, podle které se vyžaduje, aby bezolovnatý automobilový benzin neobsahoval žádné příměsi ani kontaminanty, které by mohly způsobit, že palivo nebude vhodné k použití
