Norma platí pro přejímací zkoušky třídy C strojních hydrodynamických čerpadel a současně i pro přejímací zkoušky strojních hydrostatických čerpadel a ponorných čerpacích soustrojí. Podle čl.1.21 se provádějí zkoušky typové, kontrolní, přejímací a provozní. Účelem zkoušek je zjištění výkonových parametrů čerpadla, t.j. průtoku, měrné energie, příkonu nebo účinnosti čerpadla, kavitační deprese a dalších. Předmětem zkoušek není ani měření vibrací, ani hlučnosti, ani technických bezpečnostních parametrů. ČSN 11 0033 byla schválena 15.7.1977 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.8.1979. Nahradila ČSN 11 0033 z 15.4.1964, ČSN 11 0037 z 15.12.1966 a ČSN 11 0038 z 3.2.1971
