Touto normou se zavádí ST SEV 4685-84 jako ČSN, jíž se pro potřeby tehdejší ČSSR (ČSFR), resp. ČR norma RVHP doplňuje o 7 článků, které především blíže vymezují oblasti nebo vlastnosti impregnovaného dřeva, na které lze normu používat. Norma RVHP platí pro ochranné prostředky rozpustné ve vodě nebo v organických rozpouštědlech, které se používají na ochranu dřeva. Postup při provádění normalizované zkoušky je popsán. ČSN 49 0681-1 byla schválena 7.3.1986 a nabyla účinností od 1.1.1987. Nahradila část ČSN 03 8146 z 8.3.1972
