Norma se týká metod zkoušení mléka a tekutých mléčných výrobků. Vztahuje se na zkoušení některých kvalitativních znaků (jakosti) významných pro hygienu výživy. ČSN 57 0529 byla schválena 18.5.1972 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.3.1974. "Změnou a)-10/1979", se s účinností od 1.3.1980 v normě provádějí rozsáhlejší změny. "Změnou 2)-12/1998", vydanou v prosinci 1998, se s účinností od 1.1.1999 ruší čl. 65. Nyní ČSN 57 0538
