Předmětem normy je popis dvou metod, a to: Metoda A je určena pro stanovení obsahu ethylendiamintetraoctové kyseliny (EDTA) a jejích solí v mýdlech a detergentech, které neobsahují více než 2 % chelatačního činidla. Metoda B je určena pro stanovení obsahu nitrilotrioctanu trojsodného (NTA) v detergentech. Postup při provádění normalizovaných zkoušek je podrobně popsán. ČSN 68 1157 byla vydána v listopadu 1994. Nahradila čl. 47 ČSN 68 1101 z 9.10.1974
