Norma je českou verzí evropské normy EN 1791:1997. Evropská norma EN 1791:1997 má status české technické normy. Tato evropská norma popisuje metodu stanovení asi dvou miliekvivalentů terciárních aminoxidů. Složky, které reakcí s acetanhydridem ztrácejí svou zásaditost z důvodu tvorby amidů (např. primární a sekundární aminy), jsou rušivé. Jsou-li tyto primární a sekundární aminy přítomny, je třeba je zachytit jinou metodou, např. reakcí se sirouhlíkem. Metoda je použitelná na pevné látky nebo vodné roztoky aktivní látky. Je-li obsah uveden jako podíl hmotnosti v procentech, musí být známa molární hmotnost aminoxidu. ČSN EN 1791 (68 1173) byla vydána v lednu 1998
