zabývá návrhem ocelových konstrukcí se štíhlými stěnami, u kterých je nutné posoudit účinky boulení stěn od normálového napětí (tzv. průřezy třídy 4), boulení od smykového a lokálního namáhání a účinky smykového ochabnutí širokých pásnic ohýbaných nosníků. Tato norma rovněž poskytuje informace k posouzení interakce boulení od různých namáhání včetně smykového ochabnutí a postupy pro návrh výztuh tenkých stěn. Dále dává návod pro modelování tenkostěnných konstrukcí metodou konečných prvků a nosníků s tvarovanými stojinami. EN 1993-1-5 se používá pro navrhování konstrukcí společně s dalšími částmi EN 1993 a dále pro příslušné posouzení tenkostěnných prvků v EN 1994, popř. EN 1998.
