Tato část normy IEC 60749 definuje zkušební metodu rychlou změnou teploty a metodu dvou lázní. nízkého tlaku vzduchu na polovodičových součástkách. Jsou-li obě zkušební metody prováděny jako část kvalifikace součástek, pak výsledky teplotního cyklování vzduch-vzduch mají prioritu před touto zkouškou metodou dvou lázní. Tuto zkušební metodu je možno použít, při méně cyklech (např. 5 až 10 cyklů), ke zkoušení vlivu ponoření do ohřátých kapalin, které jsou používány k čištění součástek. Tato zkouška je vhodná pro všechny polovodičové součástky. Je považována za destruktivní, pokud není v příslušné specifikaci stanoveno jinak. Obecně je tato zkouška metodou rychlé změny teploty a metodou dvou lázní v souladu s IEC 60068-2-14, ale vzhledem ke specifickým požadavkům polovodičů, platí články této normy.
