Tato část IEC 1234 popisuje zkušební metodu pro stanovení hydrolytické stability plastových fólii vystavených současnému působení vody a teploty. Touto zkušební metodou se měří nevratné změny mechanických a elektrických vlastností. Zkušební metoda je použitelná pro fólie o tloušťce nad 250 mm. Ačkoli byla tato metoda vyvinuta pro elektroizolační plastové fólie, které jsou specifikovány např. v částech IEC 674, může být vhodná i pro jiné typy plastových fólií.
