Norma platí pro pájené spoje mezi vývody součástek pro povrchovou montáž (SMD) a obrazci plošek na deskách s plošnými spoji (PWB). Tato zkouška je určena pro hodnocení pevnosti pájených spojů větších součástek s více vývody a dalších komponent v zařízeních (např. v ručních mobilních zařízeních) v případě, že zařízení upadne. Aby se dosáhlo zlepšení pevnosti pájených spojů jsou vyhodnocovány vlivy pájecí slitiny, substrátu, montované součástky, návrhu atp.
