Norma definuje zásady pro zkoušení tandemovou technikou a LLT1, technikami pro zjišťování diskontinuit orientovaných kolmo k povrchu. Zkoušení tandemovou technikou a LLT technikou se může použít pro zjištění rovinných diskontinuit ve vzdálenosti od povrchu větší než 15 mm. Tato mezinárodní norma byla připravena pro zkoušení kovových materiálů o tloušťce mezi 40 mm a 500 mm s rovnoběžnými nebo souosými povrchy.
