Tato část normy specifikuje metodu stanovení 4-nonylfenolu (směsi izomerů) a 4-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl)fenolu v nefiltrovaných vzorcích pitné, podzemní a povrchové vody. Metodu lze používat v koncentračním rozsahu od 0,005 g/l do 0,2 g/l pro 4-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl)fenol a od 0,02 g/l do 0,2 g/l pro 4-nonylfenol (směs izomerů). Podle matrice lze metodu používat také u odpadních vod, které obsahují analyzované sloučeniny v koncentračním rozsahu od 0,1 g/l do 50 g/l. Vyšší koncentrace je možno stanovit po příslušném zředění vzorku.
