Tato norma specifikuje metodu stanovení popela ve škrobech. Je použitelná pro přírodní a pro modifikované škroby, které obsahují nejvýše 2 % popela. Nelze ji použít pro hydrolyzované produkty ani pro produkty obsahující více než 0,2 % chloridu vyjádřeného jako chlorid sodný. V těchto případech se použije metoda specifikovaná v ISO 5809 1).
