Tato metoda, kterou se zjišťuje doba šíření plamene, se používá k posuzování vlastností plošných textilií a průmyslových výrobků ve formě jednokomponentních nebo vícekomponentních textilií při kontaktu s plamenem za stanovených podmínek. Je možné jí rovněž zjišťovat vliv švů nebo součásti ozdob na chování plošných textilií.
Podstatou zkoušky je působení definovaným plamenem po dobu 10 s na plochu nebo na spodní hranu textilie umístěné ve svislé poloze.
