Norma uvádí pravidla a zvyklosti indikace formovaných součástí v technické výrobní dokumentaci. Termín "formovaná součást" v této mezinárodní normě pokrývá odlévané, kované, vstřikované a další součásti, vyráběné s použitím forem. V normě je specifikován způsob indikace na výkrese formované součásti například k umožnění vyjmutí součásti z formy, jako jsou dělicí plochy či úkosy a další potřebné komponenty formy, například hradla, nálitky, průduchy, vyhazovače atd. způsobující nezbytné nedokonalosti povrchu. Tyto úchylky od ideálního geometrického tvaru jsou indikovány na výkrese tak, aby výsledná součást z tohoto hlediska splňovala zamýšlenou funkci. Norma také specifikuje proporce a rozměry grafických značek použitých pro jejich zobrazení.
