Norma obsahuje ISO 5317:1983. Určuje referenční metodu přípravy zkušebních roztoků hnojiv pro následné stanovení draslíku rozpustného ve vodě. Normalizována je podstata zkoušky, a to takto: "Rozpouštění zkušebního vzorku ve vodě za varu". Postup normalizované přípravy ke zkoušce je podrobně popsán. ČSN ISO 5317 (65 4817) byla vydána v prosinci 1995. Nahradila články 2.1 a 2.3 ČSN 65 4816 z 13.8.1982
