Tato norma specifikuje metodu pro stanovení chemické spotřeby kyslíku dichromanem (CHSKCr) ve vodách. Metoda je použitelná pro vzorky vody s hodnotou CHSKCr od 30 mg/l do 700 mg/l. Koncentrace chloridů nesmí přesáhout 1 000 mg/l. Vzorky vody vyhovující těmto podmínkám se analyzují přímo. Vzorek vody se ředí, přesahuje-li CHSKCr hodnotu 700 mg/l. Největší přesnosti se dosáhne při stanovení hodnoty CHSKCr v rozmezí od 300 mg/l do 600 mg/l.
