Uvedenú metódu možno použiť na stanovenie benzénu, metylbenzénu (toluénu), dimetylbenzénov (xylé-nov) a etylbenzénu (ďalej sa používa len skratka BTX) v homogénnych vzorkách vody a odpadovej vody v koncentrácii nad 2 µg/l. V organicky znečistených vzorkách môže byť limit stanovenia vyšší v závislosti od matrice vzorky.
