Touto normou se zavádí ST SEV 859-78 jako ČSN, jíž se pro potřeby tehdejší ČSSR (ČSFR), resp. ČR norma RVHP doplňuje 9 článků. Kromě toho se doplňuje 7 příloh s uvedením nezávazných informativních příkladů kreslení ozubených kol podle normy. Přílohy na formátu A3 jsou vydány zvlášť. Norma RVHP stanoví pravidla pro kreslení výkresů čelních ozubených kol s evolventním ozubením, dále kuželových ozubených kol s přímkovým základním profilem nad přechodovou křivku pro převody s různoběžnými osami a konečně ozubených hřebenů spoluzabírajících s čelními ozubenými koly s evolentním ozubením a ještě válcových šneků a šnekových kol. ČSN 01 3216 byla schválena 27.12.1979 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.1.1981. Nahradila ČSN 01 3046 z r.1963
