Norma platí pro oxid hlinitý používaný především pro výrobu hliníku a určuje pro stanovení oxidu chromitého metody atomové absorpční spektrometrie - pro hmotnostní zlomek oxidu chromitého od 0,0015 do 0,01 %, a fotometrickou - pro hmotnostní zlomek oxidu chromitého od 0,0002 do 0,1 %. Při provádění rozboru musí být dodržena veškerá ustanovení podle ČSN 65 1041. ČSN 65 1053 byla schválena 25.4.1991 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.2.1992. Nahradila ČSN 65 1053 ze 4.5.1981
