Předmětem normy je popis dvou metod, a to: Metoda A je vhodná pro všechny druhy detergentů kromě těch, které obsahují v kyselině nerozpustné látky jiné než oxid křemičitý. Metoda B je vážková rychlometoda pro stanovení obsahu oxidu křemičitého v pracích prostředcích. Postup při provádění normalizovaných zkoušek je podrobně popsán. ČSN 68 1154 byla vydána v listopadu 1994. Nahradila čl. 42 ČSN 68 1101 z 9.10.1974
