Tato část ISO 9377 specifikuje metodu stanovení nepolárních extrahovatelných látek ve vodách plynovou chromatografií. Metoda je vhodná pro povrchové vody, odpadní vody a vody z čistíren odpadních vod. Umožňuje stanovení nepolárních extrahovatelných látek v koncentracích nad 0,1 mg/l. Metodu nelze používat ke stanovení koncentrace těkavých složek minerálních olejů. Avšak na základě zastoupení jednotlivých píků na chromatogramu je možné vyvodit určité kvalitativní informace o druhu znečištění těmito oleji.
