Tato norma je překladem ST SEV 449-86. Platí pro oxid hlinitý určený především pro výrobu hliníku. Ve většině článků se odvolává na jiné normy, stanovující požadavky např. na čistotu chemikálií, na laboratorní odměrné nádoby apod. Bohužel neobsahuje odkaz na žádnou normu, která by se vztahovala k ochraně zdraví, ani na normu stanovující zásady pro bezpečnou práci v chemických laboratořích (ČSN 01 8003). Tato norma není citována ani v souvisících normách v Dodatku. ČSN 65 1040 byla schválena 11.5.1987 a nabyla účinnosti od 1.1.1988. Nahradila ČSN 65 1041 z 31.5.1978
