Tato mezinarodni norma urcuje fotometrickou metodu pro stanoveni zeleza v hliniku a ve slitinach hliniku. Metoda je pouzitelna pro stanoveni zeleza od 0,05 procent do 2,50 procent. Metoda neni plne pouzitelna v nasledujicich pripadech, pro ktere by mela byt upravena tak, jak je uvedeno v priloze A nebo v priloze B: a) nelegovany hlinik, slitiny hlinik-kremik a jine slitiny hliniku, obtizne rozpustne v kyseline chlorovodikove; b) slitiny obsahujici med (obsah medi nad 5 procent) , zinek (obsah zinku nad 4 procent), nikl (obsah niklu nad 2 procent) , nebo slitiny s takovou vzajemnou kombinaci techto prvku, aby jejich celkovy obsah nebyl vyssi nez 5 procent.
